Worn World Series jersey and historic bat of MLB legend Barry Bonds sold for $245,000

Worn World Series jersey and historic bat of MLB legend Barry Bonds sold for 5,000

Barry Bonds’ goods remain in high demand.

TMZ Sports reported that two of the seven-time MVP’s game items went up for auction last week, selling for a total of $245,220. These included a jersey he wore in Games 3, 4 and 5 of the 2002 World Series and a bat he used during the 2001 season.

The jersey sold for $158,600, making it the most expensive Bonds item ever sold at auction. The bat he used to hit his 60th home run during the 2001 season brought in $86,620.

Bonds is one of the greatest to ever grace the baseball field. He currently leads the league in all-time home runs with 762, and has also been named an All-Star 14 times, a Silver Slugger 12 times, an eight-time Gold Glove, and won two batting titles.

In his 2001 season, he hit .328/.515/.863 with 73 home runs and 137 RBIs. His home run total set a single-season record that still stands today, and he won his fourth MVP award that season.

His San Francisco Giants failed to win the World Series in 2002, but Bonds’ play was worthy of the title. During the seven-game series, he hit .471/.700/1.294 with four home runs and six RBIs.

Although he is still waiting for induction into the Hall of Fame, his memorabilia remains very valuable and its monetary value has set new standards.
