A poll released early Sunday morning found that President Joe Biden far behind the former president Donald Trump and in the swing state of Michigan, well outside the poll’s margin of error.

The Detroit Free PressThe poll’s sponsor reported that in a race between five candidates, a majority of 600 likely Michigan voters supported Trump.

In a duel in which Trump and Biden compete with independent candidates for votes Robert F. Kennedy Jr. And Cornel Westand candidate of the Green Party Jill StoneTrump emerged victorious.

Trump was ahead in this hypothetical comparison with 43 percent approval, while Biden was ahead with 36 percent. Kennedy was able to secure the support of 8 percent of pollsters, while Stein and West each received the support of 2 percent of pollsters.

Nine percent of respondents said they were undecided.

In a direct comparison between Trump and Biden, the poll showed that the president was defeated. According to the Free Press, Trump was ahead of Biden by 49 percent to 42 percent – a gap of seven percentage points.

Nine percent of respondents also said they were still undecided about who they would support. The newspaper reported:

Trump was ahead in every region of the state, including the Detroit metropolitan area – which includes Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties and is considered the most Democratic region in Michigan – where he had a narrow but notable 46 percent to 44 percent lead over Biden in the head-to-head race and a 43 percent to 38 percent lead in the five-candidate race.

Trump’s lead in the Detroit metropolitan area is a clear indicator of how the political winds have shifted in favor of Biden, who defeated Trump in the region four years ago by 56% to 40%.

Experienced pollster from Michigan Bernie Pornwho conducted the poll said Trump’s lead in the state was the strongest for a Republican since 1988, when the then-Vice President George H.W. Bush won the state.

The margin of error for Sunday’s poll was +/- 4 percentage points.

Biden has been fighting for his political survival for three weeks since his disastrous debate performance against Trump in Georgia last month. Dozens of Democrats in Congress have called on him to drop out of the race. He is currently isolating in Delaware after testing positive for Covid-19 last week.
