The young Sag Harbor police officer who arrested Justin Timberlake did not know the singer

The young Sag Harbor police officer who stopped pop superstar Justin Timberlake for alleged drunk driving is well known in the upscale city, according to a report.

Officer Michael Arkinson, who turns 24 this month, stopped the “SexyBack” singer on Tuesday morning after allegedly seeing him disregard a stop sign and drift into the right lane.

In just three months on the police force, Arkinson has earned a reputation among Sag Harbor’s wealthy residents, earning nicknames such as “the Sag Harbor Nazi” and “little red-headed douchebag” for his strict enforcement of traffic laws.

Despite Timberlake’s global fame, Arkinson – who wasn’t even born when Timberlake joined NSync in 1995 – had no idea who he was dealing with.

When Timberlake’s hit “Bye Bye Bye” topped the charts in 2000, Arkinson was just a toddler.

A Shelter Island writer who identified himself as Spencer reported an unpleasant encounter with Arkinson while looking for a parking space in Sag Harbor and making a U-turn.

“I was surprised he stopped me,” Spencer told the Daily Mail. “It was the off-season and no one was there. It was a stupid move. I felt like he was just pulling me over for fun.”

Although Spencer received a warning, his next confrontation with Arkinson was not quite as merciful.

When he was stopped for talking on his cell phone, Spencer protested because he was using the hands-free device.

“He told me I should have used Bluetooth,” Spencer told the outlet. Despite his explanations, Arkinson fined him $145. “I thought he was giving me a break… It really messed up my workout and my lunch plans.”

“I believe Justin Timberlake was a victim of the over-aggressive Sag Harbor police,” he added.

Meanwhile, a longtime Sag Harbor resident recalled Arkinson’s early days as a traffic cop, nicknamed “Brownie,” before joining the police force.

“Everyone knew where the cops would park on Main Street,” the resident told the outlet, adding that Arkinson’s ignorance of Timberlake’s fame was understandable: “If that’s not your taste in music, how would you know?”

According to the criminal complaint, Justin Timberlake claimed he had only drunk “one martini” before being stopped by police for alleged drunken driving in the Hamptons early Tuesday and refused to take a breathalyzer test three times.

The 6-foot-4 Arkinson played lacrosse at Southampton High School and Roger Williams University.

He started as a part-time traffic cop in 2017, earning less than $15 an hour, before becoming a full-time Sag Harbor police officer in March 2024.

Sag Harbor Police officers earn about $70,000 a year.

The Post has contacted Arkinson for comment.

On the night of Timberlake’s arrest, Arkinson noted in his report that Timberlake “performed poorly on all standardized sobriety tests,” smelled of alcohol, was unsteady on his feet, and spoke slowly.

Timberlake claimed he “just had a martini” and followed his friends home. He refused a breathalyzer test three times, which led to his arrest and transport to Sag Harbor Police Department.

Timberlake pleaded not guilty in Sag Harbor Village Court on Tuesday and was released on bail by his attorney Eddie Burke. Timberlake had already left the Hamptons on Wednesday to prepare for his concert in Chicago on Friday night.

His case will be heard again in court on July 26, but the star does not have to attend.
