Singer dies after electric shock during performance in Brazil

A Brazilian singer has died after suffering an electric shock during a performance on stage.

Ayres Sasaki, 35, died almost instantly after coming into contact with a cable during a performance at the Solar Hotel in Salinopolis. Brazillocal media reported.

While some reports suggest that Mr Sasaki died because he hugged a drenched fan in the crowd, others – including news portal Diario do Para – said the musician was electrocuted while playing the guitar.

Police in Salinopolis are investigating the death and experts have been asked to look into the incident, Brazilian news website Istoe Gente reported.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the Solar Hotel said it “deeply regrets the loss of dear Ayres Sasaki” on July 13.

Another fan added: “Your music will live on. God bless you. Peace and love forever.”

Mr. Sasaki is said to have worked as an architect in addition to his singing career.

He leaves behind his wife Mariana.
