The Third Thursdays Summer Series returns to Elyria on June 20

The Third Thursdays Summer Series, hosted by the Elyria Community Partnership, returns to Ely Square in Elyria on June 20 and continues through August.

According to a press release from Heather Campbell, events and engagement coordinator for the Elyria Community Partnership, the Elyria Community Partnership invites the public to join in the festivities from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“This Thursday we have the opportunity to enjoy the company of other Elyria residents and visitors, hang out with good music, eat something, support locals and admire the beauty of Elyria,” said Mone’t Roberts-Walton, executive director of the Elyria Community Partnership.

“The theme in June will be ‘beach party’ to celebrate the official start of summer,” Campbell said.

The Deputies Baton and Drum Corp will open the event with a performance at 5 p.m.

“This is the first time this talented group has performed at Ely Square,” explained Campbell.

At 6:30 p.m. Luther Trammell will take the main stage and play blues and R&B songs.

“This event has a lot to offer the community,” Campbell said. “Come and shop from over 20 artists and artisans and satisfy your appetite with local food and dessert carts.”

The Lorain County Visitors Bureau and the Lorain County Historical Society will be on site to offer free trolley rides through downtown neighborhoods.

The Foundry Kitchen and Bar offers its beer garden in its car park opposite Ely Square.

The event also includes a “best beach hat” competition and a hula hoop competition.

Boardwalk games for the whole family are also offered throughout the square.

“Third Thursdays are a way to celebrate local talent, whether it’s handcrafted jewelry, woodwork, food or musical performances,” Campbell said. “Part of the ECP (Elyria Community Partnership) mission is to bring out the best in Elyria while improving the quality of life for the residents it serves.”

“One way we do this is by partnering with like-minded organizations and showcasing our historic landmarks downtown.”

Anyone interested in participating in the events or volunteering is welcome to contact Campbell at [email protected] or call 440-329-7193.

The group is also on Facebook at @ElyriaCommunityPartnership and has a website at elyriatogether.org.

In the event of severe weather warnings, the event will be moved to St. Mary’s Hall at 250 Third Street, the press release said.
