Sky Brown is in the final of the Olympic Qualifier Series in Budapest, Arisa Trew raises the bar

The wind from the morning storm was still whipping through the park bowl, but not even it could stop Arisa Trew in their element.

The 14-year-old Australian, a world record holder in Vert Skateboardingcontinued to show that she is no less amazing in a park bowl as she easily finished as the leader in the women’s semi-final of the Olympic Qualification Series (OQS) Budapest.

Trew herself seemed as surprised as the awestruck Hungarian crowd when the numbers appeared on the screen, confirming her commanding lead.

She was the only runner of the day to break the 90.00 mark, and unfortunately for the rest of the field, the OQS Shanghai winner did it twice, posting a time of 90.20 on her third attempt.

“I’m really happy to be the first to qualify for the final,” said the young Australian, wearing her bright pink helmet, pink socks and pink board. “I’m really proud that I landed my runs because I hadn’t landed the whole run in the whole competition, so it was really cool.”

Trew’s impressive entry into the semi-finals came after a strong performance by the British Heaven Brown in the women’s heats in the park. Britain’s youngest Olympic medallist of all time, who qualified for tomorrow’s final in fourth place, impressed once again in Budapest.

Brown, who still wears a cast on her knee due to a recent tear in her medial ligament, seemed to be enjoying the simple joy of being back in the fray after her year-long absence from Olympic skateboarding competition.

“I feel good! To have made it to the finals – I’m so stoked,” said the 15-year-old, grinning from ear to ear. “I did that kickflip indy over the box and I haven’t done that trick in a while, so it was definitely good to do that again and be back on my feet.”

While some were happy, others shed tears as the fight for one of the three available NOC quota places for the Olympic Games Paris-2024 continued to increase.

Among those who will miss the final are Japanese Olympic champion Sakura Yosozumi and US skater Minna Stress, Gracefulness Marhöfer And Bryce Wettstein.

The women’s park final will take place on Sunday, June 23rd.

All skateboarding action from the Olympic Qualifier Series Budapest will be streamed live on the Olympic Channel via Olympics.com, the official Olympic mobile app. Regional restrictions may apply.
