Trump at rally in Michigan after Musk supports former US president

Republican presidential candidate and former US President Donald Trump appears to have reciprocated support for technology mogul Elon Musk after he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at a recent rally in Pennsylvania.

At another campaign rally in Michigan, Trump praised Musk and his interest in rockets, calling him “a brilliant guy.”

“I love Elon Musk. Three years ago I saw on TV how this rocket landed. No wings, nothing. It landed on a barge in the middle of the ocean. I’ve never seen anything like it. If this were the government, we wouldn’t see anything like this for 50 to 100 years,” said the 45th US President at the rally in Michigan.

Trump continued: “Elon Musk is great. He’s a brilliant guy. Every time I call him, he talks about rockets. I’ve always had a good relationship with him. We need to make life easier for our smart people, and he’s as smart as can be.”

“I fully support President Trump and hope for his speedy recovery,” Musk wrote in a July 14 post on his X-handle.

The Tesla CEO is also reportedly considering donating around $45 million a month to a new pro-Trump super action committee. Musk had indicated that he wanted to start donating to the America PAC, which supports former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, in July, reported The Wall Street Journal.

It is also worth mentioning that Trump was looking for new donors to support him in the 2024 presidential election earlier this year when he met Musk in Palm Beach, Florida. It has been reported that Musk, who has a net worth of around $257 billion, may decide to support Trump and potentially almost single-handedly erase what is expected to be a huge financial lead Biden and his allies have over the former president.
