Trent Sisley, Michigan State Spartans basketball target, announces top five teams

The recruiting season for the Class of 2025 will be an interesting one for Michigan State Spartans head coach Tom Izzo. Niko Bundalo, a top target, will compete with the Serbian U18 national team at EuroBasket this summer. Trey McKenney, another high-priority target, just helped the U.S. U18 national team win gold at the FIBA AmeriCup. Jordan Scott has excelled in UAA ball and camps over the past few weeks.

The latest news, however, concerns Indiana’s four-star 2025 forward Trent Sisley. Sisley is the 77th-ranked player in his class and the 16th-ranked power forward according to On3 Industry Rankings.

Sisley recently announced his top five schools – Michigan State, Iowa, Purdue, Notre Dame and Indiana, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.

He has visited Iowa and plans to make an official visit to the Spartans on October 12. It will be his last official visit with the teams.

Sisley told Tipton that Indiana offered him early and has been courting him “hard” ever since. He liked Iowa’s versatility, he told Tipton. As for Michigan State, Sisley praised the program’s energy.

“I like the family atmosphere up there,” he said. “And they play a tough style of basketball, and I can play that way, too.”

Brian Neubert of On3 touted Sisley as one of Purdue’s most promising options in this class.

“Sisley has been working on his three-point shooting, knowing that college forwards are often used as spacers,” Neurbert wrote. “The work has paid off, as he is very effective at shooting threes, especially today (at an adidas Circuit contest) when he made four of them and was efficient. He looked especially natural firing pick-and-pops on side pick-and-rolls. He places a high emphasis on shooting on the move.”

A scouting report by Trevor Andershock of 247Sports praised Sisley’s ability to score goals.

“Offensively, Sisley was incredibly efficient in the spring,” Andershock wrote. “His 60.8% true shooting percentage in 3SSB play is fantastic. He made more than one three-pointer per game and shot 44.1% from beyond the arc… Indiana Elite has great spacing and balance, and that helped Sisley increase his shooting efficiency to high levels in April and May.”

“Sisley’s three-point percentage is nothing new. He made 38 percent of his 211 three-point attempts in three seasons for Heritage Hills. His long-range shooting has always been an important weapon. Earlier in his career, Sisley primarily shot threes from close range. Now he’s making more off the dribble.”

Since today’s game relies on sharp-shooting stretch 4s, Sisley would be a real stroke of luck for Izzo.
