KANSAS CITY, Missouri – Brady Singer threw seven scoreless innings to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 6-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Saturday night.

Singer had to pitch the minimum for three innings before running into trouble in the fourth inning, needing two walks to load the bases. He came away with one strikeout and struck out 10 of the last 13 hitters.

Singer (6-6) allowed five singles with two walks and seven strikeouts, earning his second win in his last 10 starts.

The Royals took a 3-0 lead with five straight hits in the first inning, highlighted by Michael Massey’s RBI triple. In the second inning, Maikel Garcia and Bobby Witt Jr. hit a double and scored another run.

Jonathan Cannon (1-4) then held Kansas City to a single, finished six innings, allowed four runs on eight hits and four strikeouts.

Witt has three hits and has hit in 29 of his last 30 home games, with a batting average of .444. He has had multiple hits in nine of his last 14 games.

Salvador Perez had two hits and an RBI, and Hunter Renfroe scored two runs in the Royals’ sixth win in their last eight games.

Chuckie Robinson made his debut as a catcher for the White Sox and threw out Witt as he attempted to steal third base.

The White Sox have lost six games in a row and nine of their last ten games, and they have lost ten straight road series since their last win May 3-5 in St. Louis.
