Contract negotiations between Jordan Love and the Packers are reportedly going “positively”
Jordan Love could be one of the quarterbacks next to receive a contract extension, and reports say the relationship between him and the Green Bay Packers is moving in a positive direction.
Reporter Jeremy Fowler spoke about Love’s contract situation on ESPN Saturday morning and gave a promising update.
“The Packers and Love have had some conversations,” Fowler said. “I’m told the sentiment is positive, but there hasn’t been much in the way of a deal yet.”
Fowler added that Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst wants to make a deal with the quarterback.
The Packers drafted Love 26th overall in 2020, despite serving as Aaron Rodgers’ backup for his first three seasons. It wasn’t until last season that Love got a chance to be a starter. He had an eye-opening season, throwing for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions while leading the Packers to a 9-8 record.
Green Bay believes it has a franchise quarterback in Love. The 25-year-old is only under contract until next season, which is why the Packers are motivated to keep him for the long term.
