Prominent English fans devastated as familiar faces return from Berlin after ‘unforgettable night’

The celebrities are devastated after failing to bring home the 2024 European Cup again following England’s defeat.

After a heated final, in which the winning goal was scored in the 87th minute, the team lost 1-2 to Spain.

It is the second time since 2021 that England have come close to winning a football final, the last time they did so being the team’s victory at the 1966 World Cup.

Prince William was in the stands to watch England play alongside his son Prince George and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. George was appalled by the Three Lions’ defeat and held his hands to his face in disbelief.

However, King Charles has since urged the football team to “keep their heads high”.

Olly Murs, Piers Morgan and Rob Beckett were present at the game at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Former One Direction members Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson were also there.

Comedian Beckett joked that he “abandoned” his wife and children on a family holiday to watch England play. He explained that he had been on holiday in Greece with his family but “only left my wife and children” to attend the final.

However, when he returned home after the defeat, he looked serious and dejected.

Beckett’s boyfriend Lloyd Griffith joked: “We’re coming home. See you in 2026,” while sharing a picture of the two of them on a crowded train with football fans.

Meanwhile, “Heart Skips a Beat” singer Murs was devastated by the loss and was seen with his head in his hands.

“When you realise that after losing the European Championships you have to fly from Berlin to Zurich before you can fly back to London,” he wrote in a caption on Instagram. “Thank you for your hospitality and for allowing me to experience this unforgettable evening!”

In addition to musicians and television personalities, well-known football faces were also in attendance at the final, including former England international Peter Crouch, Welsh player Gareth Bale and Arsenal’s legendary football manager Arsène Wenger.

Fans were torn between pride in their country’s progress and disappointment and frustration that their team was “shit.”

“Didn’t make anyone proud, embarrassing from the players and the manager, only won 2 games in 90 minutes, Southgate needs to stop,” wrote one angry fan.

“England was shit,” wrote another.

Others, however, wrote: “You did us proud, England” and “Well done boys, you played well.”

Irish fans celebrated Spain’s victory in a Dublin bar, where Spanish music played all night long, sharing their joy at England’s defeat.

Numerous celebrities had wished the team good luck before the game, including Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding and Katy Perry
