Kamala Hampana dies: Famous Kannada writer ‘Nadoja’ dies at the age of 88 from age-related illness at her residence in Rajaji Nagar

Bengaluru, June 22: Well-known Kannada writer ‘Nadoja’ Kamala Hampana died of age-related ailments at her residence in Rajaji Nagar on Saturday, family members said. Hampana was 88 years old. She leaves behind her husband and three children. Born on October 28, 1935 in Devanahalli near Bengaluru, the writer has written numerous books.

She started her career as a teacher and gradually made a name for herself in the field of literature. Hampana has been awarded several awards including the Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award, the Daana Chintamani Attimabbe Award and the Rajyotsava Award from the Government of Karnataka. Arif Abubakr Shaikh, also known as Arif Bhaijaan, has died: The brother-in-law of gangster Chhota Shakeel, who was accused in a terror financing case, died of a heart attack in JJ Hospital in Mumbai.

In his condolence message, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his sadness over her demise. “Kamala Hampana, who was known for her research and teachings besides her literary work, was a gentle soul who wished the best for everyone,” Siddaramaiah said in his post on ‘X’. Several political leaders of the state expressed their grief over Hampana’s demise.
