Justin Bieber pays tribute after former roommate Chris King was shot dead in Nashville at age 32

Justin Bieber has paid a heartfelt tribute to his former roommate, rapper Chris King, who was killed in a shooting in Nashville on Saturday (April 20). He was 32.

In an Instagram story, 30-year-old Bieber wrote: “I love you brother. This hurts. Please pray for his family. See you in heaven brother.”

The shooting occurred in an alley at 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning. King (real name Christopher Cheeks) was killed and a 29-year-old friend of his was injured.

A statement from Nashville Police said: “Cheeks was at the location with a group of friends when three males began interacting with the group.

“The 29-year-old victim reported that the group was socializing for a while before the three suspects attempted to rob his group of friends. At that moment, he heard gunshots and realized he had been hit.

“The victim, Cheeks and her other friends ran off in different directions. The 29-year-old was found on Church Street and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

“Cheeks was found in the parking garage of the Hayes Street Hotel. He was taken to Vanderbilt, where he died.

“Other people did not appear to have been hit by the shots.”

Last year, King revealed on social media that he had lived with Bieber for “a year and a half almost 10 years ago,” adding, “I’m glad some people never change, no matter what.”

King was a rapper known for his collaborations with Trippie Redd. The 24-year-old musician was also one of those who paid tribute to King on social media, writing on Instagram: “Original 1400 I love you until we meet again twin!”

“Without (Chris King), I wouldn’t be where I am today. He introduced me to (record label executive Elliot Grainge) and (manager Milo the Light). He always had the best energy, he had so many friends and that shows that I love you guys for supporting one of my best friends of all time, my brother.”

Actress Keke Palmer also shared her memories of King and posted a picture of the two on a video call.

“Chris King!” Palmer wrote. “I wish I had more photos but actually it’s perfect because that’s how it started. iChat sessions with you and Marcel back in the 2Much days. Wow. I can’t believe I’m saying rest in peace. This is awful. I really don’t know what to say.”

She added, “I just want to say I loved you and remember all the town walks and grove moments. That was my high school. When we were babies, before everyone knew you were a real rock star. We were kids! And you always knew how to make everyone laugh. Your kindness was present everywhere, no matter what room you were in, everyone was and wanted to be your friend. We will miss you until we meet again, rest in heaven brother.”
