Brad Pitt and other A-list celebrities attend Chris Cornell’s funeral
Brad Pitt was one of many A-list celebrities, along with James Franco, Courtney Love and Christian Bale, who attended the memorial service for rock great Chris Cornell.
The funeral took place on Friday at Hollywood Forever Cemetery and was the farewell service for the Soundgarden frontman, who was pronounced dead on May 18 at the age of 52.
The singer was found dead in his hotel room at the MGM Grand Detroit after performing with Soundgarden that evening.
Brad and other stars are reportedly devastated by the loss.
A source said E! News: “(Brad) is devastated and in shock.”
The source also said the news of the rocker’s death hit him “very hard.”
The two have been friends for years and Brad attended a ROCK4EB! charity event with Chris in January.
Brad introduced Chris to the crowd, saying, “I’d like to introduce a very, very good friend of mine, someone I’ve known for quite a long time and someone I’m a huge fan of: Mr. Chris Cornell.”
Chris’ wife Vicky Karayiannis Cornell released a statement following the news of her husband’s death, saying she and the rest of the family were “shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected passing,” while thanking fans for “their continued love and loyalty.”
