Harley-Davidson motorcycles worth over $100,000 stolen in break-in at Taylor store

Harley-Davidson motorcycles worth over 0,000 stolen in break-in at Taylor store

It took only two minutes for five thieves to break into a Taylor Harley-Davidson dealership and escape with their intended target.

When they crashed through a service door shortly after midnight on Thursday, the surveillance cameras at Motown Harley Davidson in Taylor next to Telegraph Street were running.

“They were here, they knew where they were on the floor and where they were going,” said Jon Gale, the general manager. “In less than two minutes, they were in and out.”

The thieves stole top-class bicycles.

“Two of them were Harleys from their new platform, they’re all 2024s,” Gale said. “Two were limited edition off-road Glide CVO Road Glide ST models. The crème de la crème of Harley bikes.”

As the thieves set off, a bicycle tipped over and a security mechanism was triggered.

“The bike stopped working, they couldn’t get it running,” Gale said. “Luckily we still have the bike. But they took the CVOST in white, and they took one of our Street Glides in Whiskey Fire.”

When the motorcycle stopped, a thief stole another stolen motorcycle through a door, increasing the damage.

The dealer’s employees check the extent of the theft, from the stolen bicycles to the property damage.

“We’re looking at about $150,000 worth of property damage, not to mention the damage we don’t know about yet,” Gale said. “They’re stealing these bikes to get spare parts that end up going to other parts of the world, and that’s the worst part.”
