Kevin Scott, 39, faces a first-degree murder charge stemming from a fatal shooting on Thursday, May 9, in the 14000 block of South St. Louis.

Officers found a 27-year-old woman with gunshot wounds in the kitchen of a residential building. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cook County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Tetorsha T. Williams.

Police arrested Scott on Thursday, July 18. He is due to appear in court on Saturday.

Family of murdered mother had hoped for justice

Days before the one-month anniversary of the fatal shooting, Williams’ family spoke to WGN News and described her as the “nicest person in the world.”

Williams left behind a young son named Khristian.

“He understands that mom is in his heaven,” Williams’ mother, Trinetta McClure, told WGN News on Friday, June 7. “But he wonders, ‘Why mom?'”

Family members had long blamed Scott for Williams’ death. A GoFundMe campaign set up for Williams raised nearly $2,000.
