Victoria Justice is “ready” for a “hot summer fling” with her sexy new single

“This song really captures the flirting and the overall feeling of being so undeniably attracted and in love with someone,” says Justice

Summer makes Victoria Justice is feeling a little sexier now. On Friday, the actress and musician released the tropical R&B single “Down,” which she wrote during a trip to Baja California, Mexico with songwriters Toby Gad and Will Jay.

“I was inspired by the beautiful ocean views and was in the mood to write a sexy summer song,” Justice said of the sensual track in a press release. “This song really captures the flirting and overall feeling of being so undeniably attracted to and in love with someone.”

She added: “I want people to hear this song and want to get up and move! I hope people will dance to it with me all summer long.”

“Down” songwriter Gad said the track sums up Justice’s “natural self-expression” after being inspired by the beaches of Mexico. “(It captures) how she loves to move and interact with her crush on the dance floor, bringing lust and passion to a steamy summer affair,” he said.

“Down” is the latest music from Justice, who has been releasing songs as an independent artist over the past few months. She released her track “Raw” in mid-April and “Tripped” in February. She also appeared in Remi Wolf’s video for “Motorcycle” in mid-June.

Justice appeared on the cover of Marie-Claire in May and spoke about her desire to fully immerse herself in making music as an indie artist, explaining that doing things alone “can be challenging.”

“Being independent is hard because I’m completely self-funded,” Justice said. “I’m not going to get the push from a major label or get on the playlists that all the other artists get. There are pros and cons to that.”

“Music was always something I loved and was a part of me, and I knew I would come back to it at some point,” she added. “My goal is for everyone who hears it to feel something – whether it’s something emotional and heartbreaking or a sexy and powerful feeling.”
