Peruvian avocado export volume fell in May, but value rose slightly

In May 2024, Peruvian avocado exports totaled 95,503 tons worth US$187.2 million, according to Agraria, a 25 percent decrease in volume but a 3 percent increase in value compared to May 2023.

As for the price, it recorded an increase of 38 percent in the month analyzed this year, reaching $1.96 per kilogram, which compensated for the decrease in volume.

Peru exported to 37 destinations, one more than in 2023, with the Netherlands being the most important with purchases worth $52.6 million (27,147 tonnes at an average price of $1.94 per kilogram) and a share of 28.1 percent.

Spain (17.2 percent) came in second with purchases worth $32.2 million (17,201 tonnes at an average price of $1.87 per kilogram).

The USA (16.5 percent) brought up the rear with purchases worth $30.9 million (14,280 tonnes at an average price of $2.17 per kilogram).

The most popular was fresh produce (95.7 percent of deliveries) with 92,248 tons worth 179.1 million US dollars.

The main exporters were Avocado Packing Company SAC (7.9 percent of total exports), Camposol SA (7.6 percent), Westfalia Fruit Perú SA (6.3 percent), Corporación Agrolatina SAC (5.1 percent) and Agrícola Cerro Prieto SA (2.8 percent).
