Country singer Rory Feek remarries 8 years after the death of his wife Joey

Rory Feek has remarried – and that was partly thanks to his daughter Indiana.

The 59-year-old country singer and songwriter announced that he walked down the aisle again to marry his partner and teacher Rebecca on Sunday, July 14, eight years after the death of his singing partner and wife Joey Feek.

Feek shared in a blog post that the couple married “under a beautiful timber gazebo” in Greycliff, Montana. His and Joey’s 10-year-old daughter and several close friends and family members were in attendance for the ceremony.

He even surprised the bride with a song he wrote for her called “I do,” in which he expressed how much her love meant to him and how happy he was to have found her.

The music video for the song showed clips from the couple’s intimate wedding, including the bride arriving in a long-sleeved lace wedding dress with an elegant updo and a floor-length veil. She was seen joining the musician, who wore a red velvet vest over a white button-down shirt and beige pants, at the altar before he surprised her with the song.

“I thought about how blessed I was to have the opportunity to love again,” he said of the inspiration behind the song. “Not only to be loved, but to have the chance to give love again. To be the one who gets to spend his life making Rebecca happy.”

Rebecca was smiling broadly and had tears in her eyes as Feek got out his guitar and serenaded her in front of the wedding guests. After he finished his song, the couple were seen looking lovingly into each other’s eyes and holding hands as the minister performed the rest of the ceremony.

Feek and Rebecca sealed the deal with a final kiss before heading to Indiana, who was serving as a bridesmaid, to give them a loving hug. The doting father revealed in his blog post that his daughter inspired him to remarry.

He said that while he had developed feelings for Rebecca, his daughter only saw her as her “school teacher and friend,” so he “waited and watched” how Indiana reacted to their relationship. Then, one day in March, everything changed when his daughter wanted to tell him something important.

“I asked Indy and she said, ‘Ms. Rebecca, I think you should marry daddy,'” he recalled. “And then Indy looked at me and said, ‘And I told Miss Rebecca that my mommy has been gone for a long time. And if she marries you, maybe she could be my new mother…'”

“While wiping a few tears from my eyes, I told her I thought it was a wonderful idea,” he continued, adding that they began planning the wedding shortly after.

Feek wrote on his blog that the special moment when he hugged Rebecca and his daughter at the wedding was something he would remember forever.

“I think my and her favorite moment of the wedding was this one. When Indiana got the gift of having a mommy back in her life. And Rebecca got the gift of being a mother. And we became a family,” he said.
