IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri’s tenure was marked by controversy.

Popular singer Lucky Ali has accused senior Karnataka IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri of illegally seizing his trust property on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
In his complaint filed with the Karnataka Lokayukta police, the 65-year-old alleged that Rohini Sindhuri misused government resources to illegally occupy his land in Kenchenahalli district of Yelahanka.
In his post on X, Mr Ali alleged that Ms Sindhuri, along with her husband Sudhir Reddy and brother-in-law Madhusudan Reddy, orchestrated the illegal “land grab” by “spending a lot of money”. The complaint, filed under Section 7 of the Karnataka Lokayukta Act, 1984, raises serious concerns of administrative malpractice and demands an investigation into what it calls “dereliction of duty” by the accused.

This court case is the latest chapter in a long-running dispute over the ownership of farmland owned by Mr Ali’s family trust.
The dispute dates back to December 2022, when Lucky Ali publicly raised the issue on social media and tagged the Director General of Karnataka Police, alleging that the Reddys, who allegedly have links with the ‘Bangalore Land Mafia’ and are supported by Rohini Sindhuri, had encroached on his property ‘illegally’.
Mr Ali claimed that his family had been the rightful owners of the land for over 50 years and condemned what he saw as complicit behaviour by the police. “I am not getting any help from the local police who are supporting the invaders and are indifferent to our situation,” he wrote at the time.

IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri’s tenure was marred by controversies, including a high-profile spat with IPS officer D Roopa Moudgil. Ms Moudgil posted Ms Sindhuri’s private photographs on the internet, which led to a legal battle following which both officers were transferred by the Karnataka government.
In response to these allegations, Ms. Sindhuri demanded substantial compensation and an apology from Ms. Moudgil, which led to criminal defamation proceedings against the IPS officer.
