Clooney had Obama’s permission for Biden’s editorial

George Clooney’s editorial calling for President Biden to resign has drawn mixed reactions, but Chris Christie is fairly certain that one particularly powerful voice encouraged the actor to write the article: Barack Obama.

Christie stopped by “The View” on Friday to give his assessment of the state of the 2024 election and this week’s RNC performances. He was promptly asked by moderator Alyssa Farah Griffin if he thought Biden would actually drop out.

The former governor answered in the affirmative and immediately pointed to Clooney’s comment as a clue.

“We must never forget that George Clooney did not write this column without Barack Obama’s permission and probably without his encouragement,” Christie said.

However, presenter Ana Navarro contradicted this statement and accused Christie of it being “pure speculation”. However, he remained convinced.

“No, it’s not, because Clooney said he spoke to Obama before the release to make sure he was OK with it. And Obama didn’t say no to him. So Biden will go,” Christie said.

Navarro, however, remained just as adamant, saying that influential friends had encouraged her to write her own plays and that she had not dissuaded them from their opinions, even when her own opinions were different.

“With all due respect, Ana, you are not Barack Obama,” Christie replied. “He has a much greater responsibility to his vice president than you do.”

“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
