According to the study, Bradley University is one of the universities with the highest value level in Illinois

Bradley University was ranked as the sixth best value college in the state of Illinois, according to a new survey by a national student loan counselor.

SmartAsset gave Bradley a score of 62.08 in its College Education Value Index, a ranking of colleges and universities in the United States that offer the best overall value for students and their families.

With $39,837 in tuition, Bradley is the third lowest-cost school among the top 10 schools in Illinois. Only two schools in the Metro East – Principia College in Elsah and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville – offer lower tuition.

Bradley also ranked high in starting salary for college graduates, with an average salary of $59,400 making it the ninth-best in Illinois, tied with Lake Forest College. Of the top 10 colleges in Illinois, four others ranked higher: the University of Chicago, the Illinois Institute of Technology – also in Chicago – Northwestern University in Evanston, and Principia.

According to SmartAsset, the overall rating is determined based on five criteria: tuition, student living expenses, scholarships and grants offered by the school, student retention rate, and starting salary for graduates.

Overall, Northwestern in Illinois achieved the highest score with a total score of 67.27, followed by IIT and Principia, while Lake Forest College and the University of Chicago rounded out the top five.

Across the country, the California Institute of Technology, better known as Caltech, was ranked as the school with the best value for money, with a perfect score of 100, beating out the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Stanford University, Georgia Tech and the Webb Institute.
