Immeasurable Love: We celebrate NFP Awareness Week from July 21 to 27

In Spanish

“Immense Love, Natural Family Planning, Supporting God’s Gifts of Love and Life in Marriage” is the theme of this year’s National Natural Family Planning Awareness Week (July 21-27).

An educational campaign of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), NFP Week celebrates God’s plan for marital love and the gift of life and raises awareness of natural family planning (NFP) methods.

As the U.S. bishops have written, NFP supports the Catholic belief in marital love because it “respects the God-given power to bring new human life into being through love” (see “Married Love and the Gift of Life”).

The Natural Family Planning Awareness Week event from July 21 to 27 marks the anniversary of the papal encyclical Humane life (July 25), which expresses the Catholic beliefs on human sexuality, marriage, conjugal love and responsible parenthood.

The Diocese of Raleigh joins the U.S. bishops in emphasizing the benefits of NFP as an ethical method that helps married couples implement God’s plan for their marriage.

“If you are married or getting engaged, you should learn an NFP method. Using an NFP method will be a blessing to your marriage,” said Father Robert R. Cannon, board member of the Couple to Couple League, an organization that seeks to inspire, educate and support couples in natural family planning.

“NFP can help you and your spouse embrace God’s gifts of human sexuality, fertility, marital love and parenthood,” said Father Cannon. “If a husband and wife desire to nurture their love and grow their family, NFP methods can be a practical and ethical support to their marital union.”

The Diocese of Raleigh’s Marriage and Family Life Ministry offers resources on natural family planning, including information on where to learn NFP. Please join the Diocese’s NFP team in spreading the word about God’s plan for marital love and the gift of life, as well as the methods of NFP! Contact us at 984-900-3184 to get involved.
