When George Strait serenades his wife, you will believe in love

One man raised the bar for husbands higher than ever while serenading his wife, and his name is George Strait! This music icon, also known as the King of Country, got pretty emotional while dedicating a love song to his wife Norma onstage. It was December 4, 2021, which happened to be the couple’s 50th anniversary. George Strait was playing at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and he just had to tell his wife how much she meant to him. We think he did a pretty good job!

American songwriter tells us that the famous love song, Word of honorwas not written specifically for this artist. It was written for the 1992 film Pure Landand finding the perfect singer to bring it to life proved harder than expected! However, once Strait got his hands on the tune, it became an absolute hit.

There’s a reason George Strait’s version of the song touched so many hearts.

Perhaps the country legend was able to do justice to the lyrics because he already knew a little about true love. According to American songwriterGeorge Strait married his wife Norma Voss in 1971. Right after graduating from high school, they eloped to Mexico and have been a couple ever since!

As the musician prepared to sing Word of honor On his 50th wedding anniversary, in the presence of Norma, he told of the beginning of their beautiful romance.

“So I was 19 years old. And I knew this girl, Norma,” he said, adding, “She was 17, really hot.”

George Strait was visibly moved during the performance as he sang for his long-time wife, but he had the biggest smile on his face when he wished her a happy anniversary at the end of the song. It was honestly the best gift he could have given her on the occasion!

We’re sure Norma will never forget how her husband serenaded her on their 50th wedding anniversary, and you know what? Neither will we!
