“Blue screen of death”: Windows users must expect massive outages after the new Crowdstrike update. Everything you need to know

Windows 10 users around the world are facing massive outages due to a new Crowdstrike update that is causing PCs to get stuck on the recovery screen.

Users have taken to social media to share images of their screens stuck on the recovery page, with the message on the screen reading: “It looks like Windows didn’t load correctly. If you want to restart and try again, select Restart PC below.”

Internet users react to blue screen problems on Windows:

One user on X wrote while pointing out the issue: “Something totally weird is happening right now: I’ve been getting calls from several completely different media outlets in the last few minutes, all with Windows machines that suddenly have a BSoD (Blue Screen of Death). Has anyone else seen this?”

Meanwhile, a Reddit user has also suggested a possible solution to the problem, stating: “Update: Can confirm that the following stops the BSOD loop. Go through the recovery options in CMD. Go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers. Rename Crowdstrike to Crowdstrike_Fucked. Boot into Windows. It’s not great, but at least this means we can get some Windows files back…”
