Who sits next to Trump? Jason Aldean, Brittany Kerr in the MAGA box

On the final night of the Republican National Convention, country singer Jason Aldean sat next to former President Donald Trump.

Aldean and his wife, Brittany Kerr, met with Trump early Thursday evening in the MAGA Friends and Family Box, hours before Trump is scheduled to deliver his speech and accept the party’s nomination.

The Aldeans have had ties to Trump for years, and the singer defended Trump on social media this year following the former president’s criminal conviction.

The RNC has been taking place in Milwaukee since Monday, and speakers including Trump’s family, former staff and elected officials have used their time in the spotlight to praise Trump.

Aldean dedicated Trump after the shooting “Try that in a small town”

After Trump survived an assassination attempt on Saturday, Aldean shouted “Trump” while performing his song “Try That in a Small Town” at a concert.

“President Trump is a friend of mine, so I want to send him this next song,” Aldean said in social media footage from the concert. “We all know what’s going to happen in November, so it’s all good. This just goes to show that there’s a lot of (expletive) in the world, and that’s what this song here was about, so this one goes out to the president.”

The song and music video, which featured actual footage of protests, sparked outrage, with some saying it was a “dog whistle” and was “pro-lynching.” Aldean defended the video, saying it did not address racial issues and that the footage in the video was real news clips.

Aldean also called Trump a “warrior” on Instagram after the assassination attempt.
