Larissa Brady’s fall from Ohio Stadium during the OSU graduation ceremony was ruled a suicide

The mother who jumped to her death during her daughter’s graduation ceremony at Ohio State University in May delivered one final harrowing message before committing her final act.

Larissa Brady, 53, caught the graduate as she entered Ohio Stadium to tell her “that she loved her and would always be her mother,” according to an autopsy report obtained by PEOPLE on Thursday.

The mother from Georgia then climbed and jumped over the concrete wall of the stadium near the bell tower, the coroner said.

Brady died from multiple blunt force injuries, the report says. After months of speculation, investigators officially classified her death as a suicide.

According to the coroner’s report, the mother had a history of bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder and anxiety.

Brady had “already attempted suicide twice,” including one earlier this year, and had stopped taking her medication at the time, her husband told investigators.

It is unclear whether the distraught mother went to the ceremony with the intention of taking her own life. According to an obituary from May, the mother of two was an avid traveler and gardener who “enjoyed the diversity and natural beauty that nature had to offer.”

“She loved her family and her children passionately and protected them like a mother bear,” her relatives wrote.

According to officials, the mother of two came to Ohio Stadium with her husband and 12-year-old son to watch the ceremony.

The family had spoken to their daughter shortly before arriving at their seats. The rest of the graduating class was still streaming into the stadium when Brady separated from her family members, the coroner’s office said.

Brady told her family that she wanted to live further up the stadium.

Witnesses saw the mother walk to the last row of benches and climb over the concrete walls. She fell about 150 feet to her death. Brady was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the graduation ceremony – which included a speech by social entrepreneur and OSU graduate Chris Pan that was shared online – there was no mention of the tragedy.

It is not clear whether Brady’s daughter learned of her mother’s death after she took the stage.

At the end of the ceremony, the new graduates reportedly walked past the scene of the tragedy, which was still cordoned off with yellow police tape.
