“Gritty”: True Netflix story with Chris Evans and Emily Blunt is compared to “Wolf of Wall Street”

At the end of the day, every film wants to be compared to a Martin Scorsese film.

Every time Netflix executives release a movie, they are probably sitting in a bunker somewhere and simply praying that an ignorant critic will describe each new film as “like Taxi driver’ or is somehow ‘Start meets “Goodfellas” – The Last Jedi.

In the case of a film starring Chris Evans and Emily Blunt, that is exactly what Netflix got – it felt like every other review mentioned that the film was just like Wolf of Wall Street.

What a comparison film.

Paramount Pictures.

As well as Wolf of Wall Streetit is a true story, just like Wolf of Wall Streetit focuses difficult on drugs, and just like Wolf of Wall Street It is a spectacular corporate conspiracy full of crimes.

Add to that an R rating, an all-star cast, a rags-to-riches story, and fans raving about it, and it’s easy to see where the lines are drawn.

Watch the trailer and judge for yourself if you support the comparisons.

Pain Hustler was released last year, with Evans and Blunt joined in the cast by Catherine O’Hara, Andy Garcia and Brian d’Arcy James.

Leaded by Harry Potter Directed by veteran director David Yates, the film follows Liza Drake (played by Blunt), a woman who seeks to improve her life by climbing the corporate ladder of a bankrupt pharmaceutical company.

As her life takes a turn for the better, she suddenly finds herself in the middle of an ongoing conspiracy within the company.

The film is based on a true story and Blunt and Evans both received high praise for their acting in this “hard-hitting” retelling of this crazy tale.

Under a post in the Facebook group Netflix Bangers, a fan commented: “I was absolutely thrilled, reminded me of Wolf of Wall Street but from the perspective of the pharmaceutical industry.”

Evans and Blunt play the lead roles in the film.

Another commented: “I found the film quite interesting and also a good portrayal of the pharmaceutical industry.

“It’s a business and the only interest is to have more money and spend more, regardless of the consequences for people’s lives.

“| I trust that this film will open others’ eyes to the importance of knowledge in any field, especially when it comes to our health.”

Amy Nicholson of The New York Times gave the film a positive review: “The film is guided by its own conscience and thrives when Evans’ wonderfully wild Pete is let loose, dressing like a Lonafen spray and ranting about sales commissions, only to move apologetically from corporate bacchanalia to suffering victims.”

Kevin Maher of the British Times said: “Blunt is brilliant, co-star Chris Evans is serviceable and Andy Garcia is a hoot as the domineering, eccentric billionaire boss.”

Rex Reed of the Observer said: “A true story with social themes about capitalism that is entertaining and funny while also thought-provoking without being too serious or earnest.”
