Famous comedian and musician dropped by agents after making controversial comments about Trump assassination

SYDNEY, Australia – Tenacious D’s Kyle Gass has been dropped by his talent agent, Michael Greene of Greene Talent, after joking about the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Earlier this week, his friend and bandmate Jack Black canceled the remainder of the comedy-rock duo’s tour after Gass made the remark on stage in Australia over the weekend.

When Gass appeared on stage in Sydney on Sunday, he was presented with a birthday cake and asked to make a wish.

“Don’t miss Trump next time,” he replied.

Black said he was completely taken aback by Gass’ comment.

“…I would never condone hate speech or promote political violence in any form,” Black said in a statement on Instagram. “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to fans for their support and understanding.”

Gass later apologized on Instagram.

“The sentence I improvised in Sydney on Sunday night was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake,” he said. “I do not condone violence in any form, in any way, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy and I am incredibly sorry for my serious lapse in judgement.”

The group’s “Spicy Meatball Tour” was scheduled to continue in Newcastle on Tuesday evening, with further dates in the US to follow in the fall.

Her travel company Frontier Touring announced the cancellation on Instagram.

“After the events in Sydney, we parted ways,” Gass’ former agent told Rolling Stone. “Thank you.”
