Film adaptation of the series 24 in the works

The film production houses 20th Century and Imagine Entertainment are developing the adaptation of the Fox series 24.

The series, which originally ran for nine seasons from 2001 to 2014, was also adapted into a television film entitled repayment in 2008.

The series, created by Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow, is about “counter-terrorist agent Jack Bauer, who races against time to thwart terrorist attacks and save his country from ultimate catastrophe.”

It’s worth noting that there were talks of a film adaptation as early as the mid-2000s, when it was planned during the seasonal break between the sixth and seventh seasons. Sutherland had commented that it would be impossible for the writers to work on the series and shoot back and forth. This was later pushed back to 2010-11, after the streaming of the eighth season, which also failed to materialize.

The series starred Kiefer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Carlos Bernard, Dennis Haysbert, Elisha Cuthbert, James Morrison, Reiko Aylesworth and Jude Ciccolella, among others.

Although 20th Century did not comment on the film, Brian Grazer, co-founder of Imagine Entertainment, hinted at a possible big-screen version of the series in a recent interview, according to Deadline. The film’s plot and casting details are being kept under wraps.
