From a Bottled-in-Bond rye to a 12-year-old Tennessee Elixir, Jack Daniel’s portfolio is full of innovative creations that build on the brand’s flagship Old No. 7. The latest addition expands JD’s Distillery Series Selection range, which previously produced a tequila take on an otherwise quintessentially American whiskey.

Distillery Series Twice Barreled Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey starts with Jack Daniel’s rye recipe and features a grain blend of 70 percent rye, 12 percent malted barley and 18 percent corn. The whiskey is charcoal aged and stored in a charred American white oak barrel before – as the name suggests – being aged for an additional two and a half years in a second charred American white oak barrel. According to JD, the second barrel ageing imparts sweet aromas of smoke and burnt sugar, intensifies the flavor of charred oak and brings out notes of molasses. The finish features spearmint, anise and dry baking spices.

“Our Tennessee Rye is an interpretation of rye whiskey that is unique to Jack Daniel’s. The 70 percent rye blend allows the whiskey to shine through with just the right amount of spice and power,” said Chris Fletcher, Master Distiller at Jack Daniel’s. “We are excited to add a limited edition to our rye range with this release that places the whiskey in a second barrel to create a profile with even more depth and character.”

Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series Twice Barreled Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey is bottled at 53.7% ABV in 375 ml bottles and is available in select Tennessee stores and the JD Distillery’s White Rabbit Bottle Shop for $41.99.
