Lake Van, which was formed after the eruption of the Nemrut volcano, stretches like a sea with an area of 3,713 square kilometers and attracts the attention of diving enthusiasts.

The lake is considered one of the most important hotspots for diving tourism and recently welcomed members of the Underwater Search and Rescue Training Association (AKEM) who completed their first dives of the season.

Association President Halil İbrahim Atacan noted that the season started late due to the slow warming of the weather and that the first dives were practiced as soon as the water temperature rose. “We expect a season full of beautiful and successful dives,” he said.

Atacan pointed out the high altitude of Lake Van and explained that this feature alone is enough to make it a “center of attraction” in terms of diving. “Because we know that every diver would like to dive in high-altitude waters,” he said.

Atacan pointed out the richness of the waters, stressing that the lake contains goatfish, microbialites and the “small corals of Lake Van”, thus offering divers three special meeting points.

Atacan has invited amateur and professional divers to explore the depths of Lake Van, which are full of mysteries and secrets.

“We expect diving enthusiasts to enroll in diving schools to explore the magical world of Lake Van,” Atacan stressed.
