Regal Foods enters the chilled dessert category with the acquisition of Love Cheesecakes

Yorkshire-based food company Regal Food Products Group has acquired cheesecake maker Love Cheesecakes, strengthening the company’s presence in the chilled desserts sector.

Based in Lancaster, Love Cheesecakes specialises in handcrafting over 100 premium cheesecake flavours for the wholesale, foodservice and hospitality markets. The bakery also sells its products directly to consumers through event catering, festivals and e-commerce platforms.

“The acquisition of Love Cheesecakes will further strengthen our chilled dessert portfolio and enable us to offer our customers a robust offering across all ranges and price points,” said Younis Chaudhry, CEO of Regal Food Products Group.

Chaudhry said that with a catalogue of over 100 products, there will be ample opportunity for new product development, allowing the company to offer “customers old and new a whole new range of exciting flavours and combinations”.

The deal is Regal’s latest strategic move to expand its dessert business, following the acquisition of Just Desserts Yorkshire in 2022 and Love Handmade Cakes more recently.

“This acquisition marks an exciting new chapter for Love Cheesecakes and promises tremendous growth and innovation,” said James Asquith, the bakery’s founder.

He added: “I am confident that the expertise and resources of the Regal Food Products Group will take the bakery to new heights, reach even more customers and continue to deliver the quality and values we stand for as a company.”

The takeover was advised by the law firm Mills & Reeve LLP.
