34th Hong Kong Book Fair opens
The 34th Hong Kong Book Fair opened on Wednesday, marking the start of a week-long cultural spectacle with over 600 activities.
On Wednesday, readers flocked to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center to choose from carefully curated book offerings from exhibitors.
Fair visitors can also meet writers from all over the world during this year’s event. Established writers such as Su Tong and Jin Yucheng will give lectures.
To reflect this year’s theme of film and television literature, clips and stills from films are shown alongside the original novels from which they are derived. Many fairgoers tried out an interactive map that showed filming locations and relevant information.
This year, the event also features a special section for books from mainland China, where over 60 mainland publishers presented almost 10,000 different books.
The book fair runs until July 23 and takes place parallel to the Hong Kong Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks 2024.
