Penn State Pingers Toastmasters Club celebrates 10 years of excellence with President’s Distinguished Award | Centre County Gazette

STATE COLLEGE – The Penn State Pingers Toastmasters Club has won the President’s Distinguished Award for the tenth consecutive year.

The President’s Distinguished Award is the highest of three awards given to Toastmasters clubs that demonstrate a high level of service to their community. The presentation of the award coincides with the 100th anniversary of Toastmasters International, which, according to a press release, “underscores the club’s commitment to promoting leadership and communication skills among its members.”

Founded in 1998, the Penn State Pingers Toastmasters Club includes professionals, students, entrepreneurs, volunteers and more.

“Toastmasters International has had a profound impact on the careers, relationships and confidence of members worldwide,” the press release states. “Through structured speaking projects, leadership roles and constructive feedback, members hone their public speaking skills, build confidence and refine their interpersonal communication skills.”

The club stated that in addition to celebrating this achievement, the group will continue to pursue Toastmasters’ mission of helping individuals become better communicators and leaders while enriching their personal and professional lives.

“Many attribute their career advancement to the growth they have achieved through implementing Toastmasters educational projects in our supportive environment,” the press release states. “Over the years, we have helped people from those who are afraid to say their own name in a small group to those who already speak professionally, and everyone in between.”

Toastmasters International was founded in 1924 and is headquartered in Englewood, Colorado. The organization has approximately 270,000 members in 14,200 clubs in 148 countries.
