Christopher Thomas Hunt – Ripley Publishing Company, Inc.

Mr. Christopher Thomas Hunt, age 58 (affectionately known as Critter T), of Boulder Creek, California, formerly of Versailles, Indiana, was born January 28, 1966 in Madison, Indiana. Chris was the son of Graham T. and Mary Lee Hunt. Chris was well known in the Versailles area and if you couldn’t find him, he was down at Versailles State Park fishing with his rod. He graduated from South Ripley High School in 1984 where he played on the baseball team. While in high school, he attended Southeastern Indiana Vocational School and studied industrial construction trades. He worked for various contractors in the area before becoming his own boss. Many of the homes in the area bear his personal touch. Chris was a loving son, brother, uncle and husband. Although Chris had no children of his own, he considered his nephews and nieces his children. Chris moved to California and started working at Hudson Mechanical Construction in Anderson, California from 2009 to 2021. On July 31, 2010, he married Devona Boerema in Kelseyville, California. They had 14 years of love, laughter, and happiness. Chris left us on March 12, 2024 at Dominica Hospital in Santa Cruz, California after a really short illness. His final gift as he left was the gift of life to others. Chris lives on in the lives of many.

Chris will be missed by his wife Devona Boerema Hunt and their children Melissa Brown and Darryl Brown, all of California; his father Graham Hunt of Deputy, IN; his sisters Susan Michele Hunt of Versailles, IN, M. Angela Hunt of Redding, CA and Nancy C. Barr and her partner Jesse L. Perry of Hanover, IN; his nephews and nieces Ryan T. Hunt and his wife Holli of Richmond, KY, Marianne Nieman and her partner Yu Chung Lee of Malden, MA, Adam J. Barr and his partner Holly Harvey of Camp Verde, AZ, Jeremy L. Barr and his wife April of Madison, IN, Jared A. Hewitt of Versailles, IN, Jessica A. Barr of Madison, IN and Todd M. Pollard and his wife Karen of Turners Station, KY; Chris had 16 great nieces and great nephews. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, numerous cousins ​​and countless friends.
Chris was preceded in death by his greatest supporter, best friend and loving mother Mary Lee Hunt (died August 3, 2021) and his mother-in-law Judy Ann Charley.

A celebration in Chris’ honor will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Versailles American Legion Park on Highway 50 in Versailles, Indiana. Everyone is welcome to come celebrate his life with us.
