Symposium on the Jerusalem Question “Jerusalem and the Gaza War: Palestinian Identity and Existence in Danger of Extinction”

Symposium on the Jerusalem Question “Jerusalem and the Gaza War: Palestinian Identity and Existence in Danger of Extinction”

The 2024 Symposium on the Jerusalem Question “Jerusalem and the Gaza War: Palestinian Identity and Existence Threatened with Extinction” was convened at the headquarters of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, under the joint auspices of the OIC and the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP). Prior to the event, the Committee delegation held a bilateral meeting with HE Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary General of the OIC. The delegation also visited Riyadh on the sidelines of the symposium to meet with representatives of the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The symposium on Jerusalem aimed to highlight Israel’s policy of forced displacement and dispossession of the Palestinian population in the city, in the context of similar efforts in other parts of the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), and especially in light of Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza and massive forced displacement of the Palestinian civilian population. The event also demonstrated the Committee’s support for the OIC’s call for international action to stop Israel’s aggression and achieve a peaceful solution to the conflict based on international law and relevant UN resolutions, leading to an independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.
