Different opinions about life in Lansing, Michigan

Reddit is an online forum with thousands of subreddits where like-minded people can meet to discuss, share, and ask questions. And in the Lansing subreddit, we recently learned what Michiganders really think about Lansing.

User Bigsauce710 took to r/Lansing to ask the people of Lansing a question: “I ask the people of Lansing… What’s your city like?”

What do Michigan residents really think about Lansing?

The TLDR version of his detailed explanation of his question is that they are moving to Lansing from the Denver metro area and want to know what Lansing is like and what people like to do. And Bigsauce710 has had to listen to a lot… I don’t know if they were prepared for the kind of answers they got.

User Whippet_yoga reminded everyone of the outdoor recreation Lansing has to offer: “Everyone sleeps on how great Lansing actually is for outdoor recreation. We have a decent number of mountain bike trails (Anderson, Fyne, Ingham CD, Van Atta, Burchfield), good hiking trails (Rose Lake, Burchfield, and Sleepy Hollow), and good canoeing and kayaking. We even have some sort of/not really rock climbing at Grand Ledge!”

But it wasn’t all sunshine and roses. There was talk of less sunshine, literally…

User Icantremember017 said, “In Colorado, especially in Denver, the sun shines a lot more than here. It’s very gray.” And AT4LWL4TS was quick to warn about the state of our roads: “Get ready for the worst roads in America.”

Overall, Michiganders love Lansing, and while there is definitely room for improvement, there is still a lot to enjoy here. See all the opinions here.
