QB Quinn Ewers calls Michigan “The Team in the North”

Quinn Ewers may not have the slightest experience playing against Michigan, but the Ohio State quarterback, who now plays for Texas, still doesn’t mention the Wolverines by name.

When asked about Texas’ opponent in Week 2 at Big 12 Media Days, Ewers said he was looking forward to the atmosphere Michigan Stadium will provide.

“Yeah, I mean, it’s going to be a great atmosphere going into the Big House,” Ewers said. “It’s going to be really hot. Especially all the hype, since it’s an early game. They just got a really big win, the national championship. Yeah, ‘The Team Up North.'”

Ewers originally committed to Texas from Southlake Carroll High School in Texas in August 2020. However, he ended his commitment to the Longhorns in October and transferred to Ohio State in November. After his junior high school season, he transferred to the Buckeyes.

Ewers did not attempt a pass as a freshman at Ohio State and gave up the ball twice in the Buckeyes’ win over Michigan State. He transferred to the Longhorns after the 2021 season.

In 2021, Ohio State, with Ewers on the team, lost 42-27 to Michigan in Ann Arbor.

In his two seasons as quarterback for the Longhorns, Ewers had 5,656 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, as well as six rushing touchdowns.

Ewers and Texas will face Michigan on September 7 at 12:00 p.m. in Ann Arbor.
