Professional wrestling could easily become an Olympic discipline

Chris Jericho argues why professional wrestling could be an Olympic sport.

When the 2024 Olympic Games begin in Paris on July 26, professional wrestling will not be part of the festivities. However, Chris Jericho believes the sport could well be included.

On the Blocks podcast with Neal Brennan, Jericho shared his thoughts on the subject.

“I started thinking seriously about how professional wrestling could easily become an Olympic sport,” said Chris Jericho. It’s a sporting performance between two people, similar to figure skating or synchronized swimming or anything else that’s scored on points. Think about it. I’m from Canada, Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega, the best wrestler in the world from Canada, put together our routine. Will Ospreay and Michael Oku from England put together their routine.

“Then Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson from the USA came and put together their routine. Then the judges said, ‘That was the best.’ It doesn’t matter who wins or loses (the fight).”
