This move marks Spotify’s further foray into the field of artificial intelligence. In April, Spotify introduced another AI-powered feature: a playlist generator based on text prompts.

The AI Playlist This tool allows users to describe the mood or theme they want in a few words. For example, they can type in “an indie folk playlist that gives my brain a warm, tight hug,” “relaxing music to get me through allergy season,” or “a playlist that makes me feel like the main character.” The AI playlist generator will then compile a selection of songs that match the prompts.

Recently co-founded and CEO of Spotify Daniel Ek said there is 8 billion user-curated playlists on Spotify, with 725 million created since the beginning of 2024 alone.
