Singer said he drank “a martini”

According to a police report, Justin Timberlake told the police officer during his arrest that he had only had one drink immediately before his arrest for drunk driving.

Timberlake, 43, was arrested in the early hours of June 18 in Sag Harbor, New York, after stopping by the American Hotel, a source told PEOPLE.

“I drank a martini and followed my friends home,” the singer told authorities, according to his arrest report obtained by PEOPLE.

The report states that during a routine stop, an officer observed Timberlake’s BMW 2025 run a stop sign and “fail to stay on the right side of the road.” The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that Timberlake’s “eyes were bloodshot and glassy, ​​his breath gave off the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, he was unable to divide his attention, he spoke slowly, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

Because of this, the Grammy winner was arrested at 12:37 a.m. and taken to Sag Harbor Police Department for processing. There, Timberlake was read the DUI report and he responded, “No, I’m not taking a chemical test,” according to the report. The *NSYNC star was charged with drunk driving and received two traffic tickets, one for ignoring a stop sign and one for failing to maintain a lane.

A police statement said he was held overnight pending his arraignment in the morning. He was released on bail after his arraignment Tuesday morning in Sag Harbor Village Court. He is scheduled to appear in court again on July 26.

A second source told PEOPLE that Timberlake was accompanied by attorney Ed Burke Jr. and two others during his arraignment and was handcuffed “with his hands in front of his body.”
