Clover Club expands with the Saloon, a bar in Cobble Hill

Julie Reiner, one of the top names in the New York cocktail world, has added another venue to her list. Reiner, co-owner of Leyenda, Milady’s and Clover Club, has opened Saloon at Clover Club at 208 Smith Street near Baltic Street. The new Cobble Hill bar is designed to “conjure up a 21st century version of saloon” and will initially serve as a private event space for classes. In August, the space will open to the public on the weekends of August 8-10, August 15-17 and August 22-24. Additional public hours and ticketed events are to follow in the fall, according to a spokesperson.

The Le Dive team takes over the former Great Jones Cafe

54 Great Jones Street is a historic address: It was home to the Great Jones Cafe for a long time before Gabriel Stulman took over in 2019 and later renamed the space Jolene. In January 2024, Eater reported that Jolene would close and a handover to the Mister Paradise team was planned. Now the deal is official: Elvis will open this fall. According to a spokesperson, the Paris-inspired bar is a collaboration between Paradise Projects and Golden Age Hospitality (Le Dive, the Nines).

Mission Ceviche opens near Union Square

Uptown Peruvian restaurant Mission Ceviche will open another restaurant at 7 E. 17th Street, near Fifth Avenue, on July 24. A spokesperson shares that the menu at Union Square is larger than the original and will “showcase the international influences that have shaped modern Peruvian cuisine, with a particular emphasis on Nikkei.” Mission Ceviche was first founded as a food stand; owner José Luis Chávez opened it as a sit-down restaurant on the Upper East Side in 2019. This year, it received a one-star review from Pete Wells in the New York Times.

Lella Alimentari opens another location

Williamsburg’s charming Italian cafe Lella Alimentari will open another location at 141 Havemeyer Street near South First Street this fall. Greenpointers reports that the offshoot will have more of a restaurant feel than the original, which is known for its sandwiches.
