John Woo releases trailer for the remake of his own action classic “The Killer”

Legendary action director John Woothe visionary filmmaker of In the Body of the Enemy, Mission: Impossible II, Paycheck, Broken Arrow And Hard boiledreturns with a radical reinterpretation of his 1989 Hong Kong classic, The Murderer. The project not only shows how the groundbreaking filmmaker remakes his own film, this new version of The killer The Oscar-winning producer of Oppenheimer on board, and offers everything action movie fans are looking for: professional assassins, revenge and lots of explosive shootings.

The kinetic action thriller directed by Emmy nominee Nathalie Emmanuel (The fast saga, Game of Thrones) as Zee, a mysterious and notorious assassin known and feared in the Parisian underworld as the Queen of the Dead. But when she is caught in a terrorist attack while on assignment from her shadowy mentor and supervisor (Avatars Sam Worthington), Zee refuses to kill a blinded young woman (Diana Silvers); Ma, Booksmart) in a Paris nightclub, the decision will destroy Zee’s alliances and attract the attention of a savvy police investigator (Golden Globe nominee Omar Sy); Jurassic World Franchise, lupine) and plunges her into a dark criminal conspiracy that puts her on a collision course with her own past.


The film’s international star cast includes celebrated French actors Eric Cantona (The fragile colossus, Elizabeth), Saïd Taghmaoui (Wonder Woman, Kite Runner), Cheky Karyo (Nikita, A very long engagement) and Gregory Montel (Call my agent!, Thirst for life), and Angeles Woo (Silent Night, Manhunt) and Aurélia Agel (Halo, Black Widow).


The remake of “The Killer” is set to hit Peacock next month


The killer is based on the 1989 film originally written and directed by John Woo. This modern version is also directed by Woo, this time from a screenplay by Oscar winner Brian Helgeland (LA Confidential, Mystic River) and the screenwriting team Josh Campbell & Matt Stuecken (10 Cloverfield Lane, Knight of the Zodiac). The action film is produced by Oscar winner Charles Roven (Oppenheimer, American Hustle), Alex Gartner pga (Uncharted, Warcraft), John Woo pga and Lori Tilkin deFelice (silent Night). The film’s executive producers are Terence Chang, Mark Gordon, Matt Jackson and Robin Mulcahy Fisichella.

Legendary action director John Woo wants to remake “Face/Off” with a gender twist.


The original was released back in 1989 and stars Chow Yun-fat, Danny Lee and Sally Yeh. The action film received critical acclaim, especially in the Western world, and has made a name for itself thanks to its delightfully excessive style and use of violence, stylized choreography, standoffs and slow motion. Many will no doubt be wondering what exactly Woo plans to do with this year’s reinterpretation to improve on that action movie perfection, but it will certainly be exciting to see how the filmmaker uses modern cinematography and The killer accessible to a completely new audience.
