Print version, PDF and email

What’s Up Salida, the monthly community-wide networking series, is next this Thursday, July 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

What’s new? Salida Community Coffee meets every third Thursday

Held at the Salida Community Center at 305 F Street, the informal gathering is open to all and attracts business owners, nonprofit leaders, elected officials from Chaffee County as well as the City of Salida and the Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce, along with anyone interested in learning more about what’s happening in the city and surrounding area.

Latest news and possible topics for discussion as summer weather warms

The 28th annual Brewers Rendezvous is barely over, sales tax revenue in Salida increased slightly in May, but how did June look for your business? The Fourth of July was hot and sunny and full of colorful events in a family-friendly atmosphere. The waters on the Arkansas are receding and there are plenty of surfers and rafters riding the Scout Wave.

Next up is the Salida Arts Festival, with more Thursday concerts in Riverside Park and concert performances by Salida-Aspen Music. The summer events calendar is far from complete, but perhaps now is the time for locals to relax a little more and enjoy the seasonal weather.

A time to share and meet with others

What’s Up is a valuable opportunity for the community to connect and network. According to the host, the Heart of the Rockies Chamber of Commerce, there is no set agenda. “It’s meant to be organic and driven by what attendees are talking about.” Do you have news about your business or nonprofit you’d like to share?

Add your thoughts and questions

What concerns YOU? How has the two-hour parking time monitoring in the city center been received by your customers and employees after two months?

According to this week’s City Council briefing material, staff is hard at work planning for 2025 and developing their budgets. With new council members and a new treasurer, extra time is being planned to get everyone on the same page. It’s not too early in the budget cycle to share your thoughts: What capital projects should the city prioritize when the budget is tighter than during the COVID years?

Coffee will be provided; bring your own reusable cup if you wish. Here you can take a snap of “What’s Up Salida.”
