Chiefs head coach Andy Reid jokes Travis Kelce could be Taylor Swift’s “WATERBOY” at Eras tour shows

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid jokes Travis Kelce could be Taylor Swift’s “WATERBOY” at Eras tour shows

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid believes Taylor Swift should use his tight end Travis Kelce.

Kelce, 35, and the pop superstar, also 35, have dominated headlines with their love story over the past year.

The singer took center stage at many NFL games last season to cheer on her boyfriend and the Chiefs on their way to Super Bowl glory, but this offseason it was Kelce’s turn to play the supporting role.

The three-time Super Bowl winner sang and danced his way through several of Swift’s “Eras Tour” shows during the international legs of the sold-out world tour, even performing onstage himself.

However, Reid claimed that the football star could do more than just shake off his frustration in the VIP tent.

“He can go out there and play the backup or the water carrier, so he can do that,” Reid said on The Athletic’s Scoop City podcast.

He sent London fans into a frenzy when he appeared on stage as part of the backing dance group on the third night of Swift’s sold-out Eras tour.

Amid the cheers of the 90,000 spectators, he even lifted Swift off her feet and carried her across the stage.

This move, like almost everything the power couple does, naturally sparked a media storm and fans were thrilled with Kelce’s gesture.

But Reid dismissed any concerns about the extra attention his player received when the Chiefs returned to training camp this week.

“I think it’s great for him. He can handle it. In fact, I think he probably loves it to some extent. I think it’s a great way for him to get away from it all,” Reid said of Kelce’s fame in a conversation with hosts Dianna Russini and Chase Daniel.

“I said that about Taylor too. I mean, she comes to the game, she can kind of escape the pressure of being the show. When he goes to her concerts, she’s the star,” he continued.

“Their podcast is ridiculous, that’s why he got a lot of notoriety for it,” Reid added, referring to Travis and his brother Jason Kelce’s podcast “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce.”

“He’s an outgoing guy. I mean, when he walks into a room, he lights it up. Everyone is his best friend. Until you prove him wrong, everyone is a friend,” Reid continued of Travis.

“He can handle it. It’s not something he’s been given that he can’t handle,” he insisted.
