Guitarist and singer Jax Hollow rocks Nightfall this Friday

Raw, energetic guitar playing mixed with the powerful vocals of headliner Jax Hollow will set the tone for this Friday, July 19, Nightfall show, Chattanooga’s longest-running free summer concert series.

Blending classic rock, blues and Americana, Jax Hollow is an indomitable force of nature – a compelling combination of complex songwriting, energetic guitar riffs, groovy solos and powerful vocals. The Berklee College of Music graduate is bringing a much-needed rock revival to Nashville with her impressive presence and great talent. A new album is due out in fall 2024.

She has shared the stage with Sammy Hagar, Billy Gibbons, Rick Springfield and Melissa Etheridge and has been featured in Guitar World Magazine and Rolling Stone France, defying expectations of an independent artist. Jax received a standing ovation after opening for Melissa Etheridge as a solo artist at the Ryman Auditorium on July 30, 2023, after which Melissa Etheridge said, “I want to be known for being the first to discover Jax Hollow!”

This week’s show will be opened by local artist Jess Goggans Band at 7 p.m. Singer and songwriter Jess Goggans from Mentone, Alabama, puts her whole soul into her music and every ounce of her heart into each and every performance. She is known for her sensual Southern grit, soulful melodies and energetic stage presence. It is said that you can literally feel her voice through you. Jess’ music cannot be categorized into a genre; it is described as “get-down music,” with influences from funk, rock and blues. She is accompanied by some of the best musicians in the Southeast.

Free motorcycle parking will continue to be available on MLKing Boulevard between Georgia Avenue and Lindsey Street. Motorcycles will only be allowed to enter the block from Lindsey Street. There will be a tasty selection of local food trucks at the intersection of Georgia and MLKing, and Miller Park will have about 20 local artisans offering their work for sale. Children can also enjoy the Chattanooga Football Club’s inflatable soccer field and other children’s activities such as face painting and lawn games.

Get to Nightfall early to take advantage of the new “Nightfall Happy Hour” which features weekly drink specials from 5:30pm-6:30pm. No outside food or drinks are allowed to be brought into Nightfall as food vendors are one of Nightfall’s main sources of revenue (outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited by law in Miller Park/Plaza).

Nightfall is a family-friendly concert series that brings the Chattanooga community together in the heart of our city and is known for its family-friendly atmosphere as well as national recognition for the quality of its music programming. Nightfall was nominated again this year by that community as “Best Local Event.”
