Halo Infinite developer denies rumors about the future of the series

Halo Infinite developer denies rumors about the future of the series

One Halo Infinite The developer has denied the rumor that 343 Industries is pulling out of production on the series while the community waits to hear more about Halo 7 – or whatever it will ultimately be called. A new report claims that production on the Halo series will be changed going forward, with 343 only working on the concept and pre-production phases in-house before handing over full production to other studios. It’s not even the first time 343 has had to deny such rumors.

The report comes from Halo Infinite community member “Bathrobe Spartan,” who claims to have spoken to 12 people with knowledge of the situation since March 2024. In addition to talking about changes in staffing levels and hiring at 343, Bathrobe Spartan claims the studio has “switched to a new production method.”

According to Bathrobe Spartan, 343 is splitting development and production of the FPS game series, filling senior positions to work on concept and pre-production before handing over management of future Halo projects to other studios.

However, Jez Cordon of Windows Central has refuted the 343 rumor. Now John Junyszek, Senior Community Manager at Halo, has spoken out and confirmed that the rumors are false: “It was – and always will be – wild out there.”

So there you have it. 343 Industries isn’t currently stepping away from the Halo series, either completely or with a new production method that puts another studio first. 343 had a similar production method back on Halo Wars 2, starting development itself and then handing it over to Creative Assembly to build the RTS in full – but there’s no indication that will happen with the next big Halo.

A similar rumor about 343 retiring surfaced in 2023, before 343 had to make a short but clear statement: “Halo and Master Chief are here to stay.”

343 Industries is usually tight-lipped about news and rumors, but the team gave us an update on the future of Halo earlier this year and the next game is on the way.

“We have a dedicated team supporting Halo Infinite and delivering it into the future,” said Brian ‘Ske7ch’ Jarrard, Halo Community Director. “But we also have additional teams now that are going full steam ahead and working on brand new projects. I just wanted to put you to the test.”

Since Halo Infinite came out, the community has been drinking an explosive cocktail of rumors sparked by a lack of updates from 343. So it’s not surprising that such reports are easily circulated. However, as someone who has followed Halo Infinite from the beginning, one should take these reports with a large dose of skepticism.
