Tennessee’s next opponent in the College World Series is on Wednesday

Tennessee and Florida State will play a rematch in Omaha on Wednesday afternoon. The Seminoles battled back from a devastating loss in their opening game Friday night, knocking out both Virginia and North Carolina in the process.

Florida State now needs to beat Tennessee twice in a row to advance to the championship series. The Volunteers obviously need just one more win from here to advance.

Tennessee came back in dramatic fashion to defeat the Seminoles on Friday night. The Volunteers erased an 11-8 Florida State lead with a furious ninth-inning comeback before Dylan Dreiling sealed the win with a walkoff double.

The Vols easily defeated North Carolina 6-1 on Sunday night.

Now, No. 1 national seed Tennessee faces No. 8 national seed Florida State in a rematch. First pitch is roughly scheduled for 3 p.m. ET, weather permitting and a game before that. The Kentucky-Florida elimination game has been moved from Tuesday night to 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday morning. Tennessee and Florida State will follow.

The Volunteers want to take part in the College World Series Championship Series for the first time. The national title will be decided in the best-of-three series. Texas A&M remains undefeated and has the edge in round two.
