US singer Ingrid Andress’s rehabilitation post after drunken performance of the national anthem

American singer Ingrid Andress has admitted that she was “drunk” while singing the national anthem at the Major League Baseball (MLB) Home Run Derby and is now undergoing treatment.

In a post on X, Andress, 32, spoke about her out-of-tune performance of “Star-Spangled Banner” at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, on Monday night and announced that she would be checking into a rehab clinic to get the help she needs.

“I’m not kidding you, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a clinic today to get the help I need,” she wrote. Andress later apologized to her fans and the MLB.

“I apologize to MLB, all the fans and this country for that performance. I’ll let you all know how rehab is. I hear it’s a lot of fun,” she added.

Shortly after Andress’ appearance, social media was seething with criticism.

Many speculated that the singer was not only struggling with in-ear problems on stage. Reports said that her performance started off awry and was even difficult on high notes.

Many called the performance of the national anthem one of the worst ever heard during a major professional sporting event, The Guardian reported.

Some social media users compared it to Fergie’s performance before the 2018 NBA All-Star Game.

Who is Ingrid Andress?

Andress came to prominence in 2010 through her appearance on the second season of The Sing-Off as part of the group Pitch Slapped. Although the group was eliminated early, Andress returned to the show the next season as part of another group, Delilah.

In 2020, she released her first album, “Lady Like,” which topped the Billboard Emerging Artists chart.

She was later nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2021, but lost to rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

While her last album, “Good Person,” was released in 2022, Andress is now preparing to release her new single, “Colorado 9,” next week.
